New Beginnings
Recently I have fallen out of love with the name "A Girl Betwixt". Originally it was supposed to refer to my teenage in-betweenness, but I fell that the title is more suitable for a personal blog (not a lifestyle blog). That is why I have moved to a new address at

Writing Letters
I yearn for the days when people would relax and have tea together and leave their calling cards. When people would sit down and write letters to each other. Well thought out letters that showed effort. I've made a new resolution to try to write a letter to one person each month. They don't have to be long, just enough to show you care (to much might feel like homework for the recipient). It helps to have great cards like these or these. Hope everyone is inspired to write a letter to someone they might have lost contact with!

S'mores Bars
How I Made Them:
Besides all the normal marshmallow fixings you'll need wax paper a open flame and a freezer. First thing you do is toast the marshmallow, I used the stove top for mine. Then you melt your chocolate (I used dark chocolate because I burned the milk chocolate). Once it's melted roll the marshmallow around in it completely covering the whole thing. FYI this project is really messy.
Then you crumble up your graham cracker. It helps to use a fork. Roll the marshmallow in the crumbs. Put it on wax paper and put in the freezer for about 30 min. Wait till the chocolate is completely hardened.
(P.S what do you guys think about changing my blog name?)

When Life Gives You Lemons
It's summer so bright colors and food patterns. So add some flavor to your life with lemon prints:
2.) Lemon bag from society 6 (one of my favorite places to find prints).
6.) Lemon print one piece from American Apparel (there is also a watermelon print).

Rainy Day
Its been super rainy lately so I made three outfits to prove that you can look fashionable even when the weather is bad. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
If you don't want to sacrifice comfort and function for fashion this is the outfit for you. Madwell boots, sheinside coat, and rain drop sto umbrella.
I love this outfit because its very classic. Modcloth rain coat, hunter boots, and lulu guinness umbrella.
Perfect for a rainy valentines day or if you just want to add some glamor into your day. DSW boots, and a umbrella heaven umbrella.

DIY Wrapped Bracelet
What I love about this project is your ability to create a custom colored bracelet. Since you wrap embroidery thread around them you can essentially use any color under the sun.
materials needed:
-tacky glue
-embroidery thread
-bangles
-scissors
1.)Apply a bit of glue to the end of the thread.
2.) Wrap the glue part around the bangle and hold down for 10 seconds with your fingers.
3.) Wrap the thread around the bangle. You can alternate colors or only wrap the thread around half.
4.) Add a bit of glue to the bangle.
5.) Wrap the thread around and hold for 10 seconds. Cut off the extra and wear.

Let Us Be Clear
I love love lucite things, they are elegant yet simplistic. There are so many things you can do with the material, here are my favorites:
1.) A lucite chest with gold accents, from etsy.
2.) This purse from Nasty Gal is beautiful, but I don't think i'd want everyone to see what's in my purse.
4.) This lucite bracelet goes with anything, from shop bob.
5.) Is there anything more awesome than a lucite heel? From nasty gal.
6.) I would love if everything in my office was lucite.

One Pan Pasta
Okay confession time here, I eat a lot of pasta. This is actually the second pasta dish I had today (I had thai noodles for lunch). So i'm really surprised that this is the first post about a pasta dish to appear on my blog. I love this recipe from Martha Stewart, because it's delicious and a lot simpler than it appears. You basically gather all your ingredients, stick them in a big pot and cook for 7-10 minuets. It's the perfect dish for an impromptu dinner party. And bonus, you can use ingredients from your own garden.

Nautical Girl
(Forever 21 dress, Life Stride wedges)
Most of my closet is very preppy so needless to say I have a lot of nautical stuff. And while navy stripes and a sailor style dress seem out of place during fall, summer is the prime season for all things nautical. I used the navy piping in the dress to tie in the peep toed wedges and straw hat. The cats eye sunglasses give everything a more vintage look.

Hello Bulletin Board
I love bulletin boards. They let you display things in a inspiring and impermanent fashion. They also help you keep important things insight and in mind. I've already filled up two large boards with pictures and quotes. I wanted to use the space above my desk to hang photos I liked but I wanted to do it in a creative way. So I created this "hello" bulletin board.
All you need for this project is cork contact paper, a ruler, pencils and scissors. If your doing round letters like "o", you will also need to use a compass.
Draw the letters out on the cork with a pencil. Use a ruler to get perfectly straight edges. Then cut out the letters.
Peel off the contact paper and apply to the wall.
To add some color to it pin up pictures, newspaper clippings you found interesting, whatever. Old magazines are perfect for this (I used an old Teen Vogue). Display outfit inspiration, quotes form an interview with your favorite celebrity (I have a Lorde quote on the edge of the "O") or that chocolate cake recipe you've been dying to make.
(magazine clippings)
(give me an "O")
(give me a "E")
("Hello Sunshine")

Bohemian Garden
I love flowy dresses, always have always will. They give you the freedom to move freely but will still being a dress. I love the way they swish and spin. But it's hard to ware flowy dresses without looking like your waring a victorian night gown. I pared with a short sleeved kimono it has more of a flower child/ bohemian look, thought I did opt for penny loafers instead of bare feet.

Grilled Plums
It's summer, which means grilling season. These grilled plums with greek yogurt from the food network are the perfect desert to serve at your BBQ. They are quick, healthy and super delicious. The richness of the walnut really compliments the tartness of the plums.
I did have to cook the plums for about 2 minutes (the cook recommended 30 seconds). Otherwise the recipe was perfect.
(the yogurt with the walnuts)
(the cinnamon added a new dimension of flavor)
(orange zest and juice)
(the final mix)
(the plums on the grill)
(roasted plums)
