Single Serve Flapjacks

My friend, sent me the recipe. She said "I made it twice in 12 hours and would rate 8/10 would make again". So today I tried making them.

It makes a enough for one (hence the name) and is pretty good. I had to add more flour because it was a bit watery. Make it if you have a craving for pancakes.

Going Vintage

Going Vintage a teen novel about a girl (Mallory) who gives up all technology and lives like it's 1962 when she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her with an online avatar. She also sets out to complete a list her grandmother wrote of things she wanted to do when she was also a junior in 1962. The list includes items like "run for pep club secretary" and "do something dangerous".

The book is nice fun, light reading with a vintage twist. It would be a great beach read. Mallory's relationship with her sister is really admirable. The characters, like Oliver are so realistic I can imagine them running around my school.  And the ending has a surprising twist.  It is a must read if you like vintage things and/or wan't a fun, lighthearted book.

(from here)

I enjoyed it because lately i've felt like my generation is some what lacking in face to face communication. Also because recently I interviewed my grandmother about her life during world war 2 for a history project.  I learned a lot about what growing up was like for my grand parents. It made historical events that felt distant feel relatable.

(P.S. The author Lindsey Leavitt has a pinterest board of her inspiration for the book)

Citrus Stamped Wrapping Paper

I remember when I was little using old vegetables to make stamps. So making this lemon stamped wrapping paper brought back memories of "simpler times".

It is a really easy project, all you need is paint, a paint brush, butcher paper and a fruit or vegetable to stamp with. I choose a lemon because of their distinctive pattern (and because I had a half of one left over egg lemon soup).

It's most effective to paint on to the thing your stamping with rather than dunking it into paint. If you wan't various levels of color like I did for mine don't repaint after every stamp.

This was a fun DIY (isn't it odd how we replace DIY for craft now?) and I'm thinking about using it to make labels and bookmarks.

My Summer Beauty Favorites

Summer is upon us so I thought i'd share some of my favorite beauty products:

1.) OPI's "no room for the blues"is the perfect color to bring you into summer. It has a nice vivid blue to celebrate the summer waves. And because it is OPI it lasts a long time.

2.) "Moroccan Sea Salt Spray" is a necessity if you wan't beachy waves without getting wet. Spray it on wet hair and then use a diffuser for best results.

3.) Bare Minerals "Hot Shot" moxie lipgloss is a vivacious pink perfect for summer. It has a nice peppermint taste and lasts a long time.

4.) Another bare minerals product perfect for summer is "Fruit Cocktail". It is a bright pink blush so a little goes a long way. It livens up the cheeks with a little color without going overboard.
